“Cartography of freedom” is a project that was conceived in 2022 and has been evolving ever since. Its long-term purpose is to map in a way the spaces of freedom in different cities – internal and external, intimate and public spaces. Through an intensive creative process with local artists, we examine and liven up key urban locations through the prism of possible/impossible freedom. The performance-installations created during the process involve the audience in the topic through experience and open spaces for disputes and discussions.
Until now “Cartography of freedom” was performed in Sofia and Burgas.
Within the framework of the workshop in Sofia, the participants were introduced to the methodology of sensory theater. Special attention was paid to techniques from different interactive stage practices and to the variety of approaches to creating a performance, based on the relationship with space. The creative process resulted in the site-specific performance “Cartography of freedom”, performed in “Atelier Plastelin” at “Pocket Festival” in the spring of 2022.
