⸺ Cartography of freedom – Burgas, 2023
※ Interactive site-specific theater workshop.
“Cartography of freedom” is a project that was conceived in 2022 and has been evolving ever since. Its long-term purpose is to map in a way the spaces of freedom in different cities – internal and external, intimate and public spaces. Through an intensive creative process with local artists, we examine and liven up key urban locations through the prism of possible/impossible freedom. The performance-installations created during the process involve the audience in the topic through experience and open spaces for disputes and discussions.
Until now “Cartography of freedom” was performed in Sofia and Burgas.
During the creative process in Burgas, the participants were introduced to the methodology of sensory theater, as well as techniques from interactive stage practices. The main focus was the development of skills and understanding the different approaches to the creation of an interactive performance, based on relationship with space – site-based performance. As a result of the one-week creative process, the performance “Cartography of freedom” was created.
